About Our Partner

GlobeMedDuke has the privilege of collaborating with Salud Sin Limite, an organization supported by Health Poverty Action. Salud Sin Limite, which literally means Unlimited Health, brings healthcare to one of the world's most marginalized groups of people, living in one of Latin America's most impoverished nations, Nicaragua. Salud Sin Limite works closely in Siuna, Nicaragua, part of the North Atlantic Autonomous Region.  Often overlooked by the central government, Siuna suffers from inadequate housing, poor water supply, overcrowding and low education. One private ambulance serves all 80,000 inhabitants of Siuna.

To tackle the obvious needs of the community, Salud Sin Limite works to implement three services:

1. Safe and culturally appropriate maternity services

2. Programs to reduce violence in schools and thus improve educational chances

3. HIV education projects

Juan, our partner contact shown to the right in the photo below, and Salud Sin Limite work to train urban and rural students to become active health promoters for their communities. By promoting sexual and reproductive rights, by educating the youth about needle sharing, HIV and AIDS, and safe sex, GlobeMedDuke and Salud Sin Limite hope to empower the youth of Siuna with the understanding necessary for a brighter future.
